These Terms form a binding agreement between you and Black Events Directory (“we”, “us”, “our”). By accessing or using our website, creating an account, submitting a listing/review, or purchasing advertising or upgrades, you agree to these Terms.

1) What we do

Black Events Directory is a directory & advertising platform for events and services (e.g., decorators, event planners, venues, caterers, performers/hosts, DJs/entertainers and more). We provide tools to publish and promote listings and to help users discover them. .

3) Eligibility & accounts

  • You must be 18+ to use the site.
  • Keep your login details confidential and ensure your account information is accurate and up to date.
  • You’re responsible for all activity under your account.

4) Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Post unlawful, discriminatory, hateful, harassing, defamatory, obscene, or misleading content.
  • Impersonate others, misrepresent affiliations, or list events/services you are not authorised to promote.
  • Upload viruses, attempt to bypass security, scrape, or bulk-harvest data without permission.
  • Interfere with the site’s operation or other users’ enjoyment.
    We may remove content, restrict features, or suspend/terminate accounts that breach these Terms.

5) Listings, events & advertising

  • Accuracy: You must ensure all listing content (text, images, dates, addresses, prices, ticket links, policies) is accurate, lawful, and up to date.
  • Permissions: Only upload content you have rights to use (including logos, photos, music/footage).
  • Placement: We may format, categorise, feature, down-rank, or remove listings to improve user experience or for policy compliance.
  • No endorsement: Publication or “Featured/Sponsored” labels do not equal our endorsement.
  • Third-party links: Ticketing and bookings often occur on third-party sites. Those sites have their own terms and policies.

6) Reviews & community content

  • Reviews and comments should be honest, relevant, respectful, and based on real experiences.
  • We may moderate, edit, or remove content for policy or legal reasons and may restrict reviewing where abuse is detected.
  • We are not responsible for user opinions but may act on notices of harmful or unlawful content (see §11).

7) Paid plans, promotion & billing (if enabled)

  • Plans & orders: Details of plan features, pricing, and duration are shown at purchase.
  • Auto-renewal: Some plans renew automatically unless cancelled before the renewal date in your account settings.
  • Fees & taxes: Prices may exclude VAT; applicable taxes are added at checkout.
  • Payments: Processed by third-party gateways (e.g., Stripe/PayPal). We don’t store full card details.
  • Non-payment: We may pause or remove promoted placements or listings if payment fails or is reversed.

8) Intellectual property

  • Your content: You retain ownership. By submitting content (text, images, logos, videos), you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce, display, distribute, and promote that content on and in connection with our Services (including in emails, social posts, and search results) for as long as it appears on the platform and for a reasonable period afterwards in backups and archives.
  • Our IP: The site, software, design, and trademarks are owned by us or our licensors. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works except as allowed by law or with our written permission.

9) Third-party services

Our site integrates services we don’t control (e.g., payment processors, analytics, embeds such as maps or video, email providers). Your use of those services is governed by their terms and privacy policies. We’re not liable for their performance or content.

10) Disclaimers

  • We provide the site “as is” and “as available.” We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation, specific results, or that listings will lead to enquiries, bookings, or sales.
  • Event details (dates/times/venues/prices/accessibility) are provided by organisers and may change. Always check with the organiser before travelling or purchasing.
  • To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties (express or implied), including fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement.

11) Reporting issues & takedown

To report illegal, infringing, or harmful content, or to make an IP/copyright complaint, email admin@blackeventsdirectory.co.uk with:

  • Your contact details
  • The URL(s) of the content in question
  • A description of the issue and why it’s unlawful/infringing
  • Any supporting evidence and your rights/authority to act
    We’ll review and, where appropriate, remove or restrict access in line with applicable law and our policies.

12) Suspension & termination

We may suspend or terminate access (and remove content) where:

  • you breach these Terms or applicable law;
  • your activity risks harm to users, our platform, or third parties; or
  • we are required to do so by law or competent authority.
    You may close your account at any time via your settings or by contacting us.

13) Liability

Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any liability that cannot be limited or excluded under applicable law.

Subject to the above, we will not be liable for:

  • loss of profits, revenue, business, goodwill, or data;
  • indirect or consequential losses;
  • user-generated content or third-party services;
  • events beyond our reasonable control.

Our total aggregate liability to you for all claims arising out of or in connection with the Services shall not exceed the greater of (i) the amount you paid to us in the 12 months prior to the event giving rise to the claim or (ii) £100.

14) Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from any claims, damages, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your content, use of the Services, or breach of these Terms.

15) Privacy & cookies

Your use of the Services is subject to our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy, which explain what data we collect, how we use it, and your choices.

16) Changes to the Services or Terms

We may modify the Services or these Terms (e.g., to reflect new features, legal requirements, or business needs). If changes are material, we’ll provide notice by email and/or prominent site notice. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.

17) Governing law & jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Courts of England and Wales shall have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute, except that consumers resident in Scotland or Northern Ireland may bring claims in their local courts.
